EXPERIENCE

Ron Wilson grew up in Central Illinois and is proud to say he has kept his Midwest values and work ethic. Working his way through high school and college, Ron had several jobs to conform to his changing school schedules. He did just about every job you can think of.  With pride he admits he was “a butcher, a baker and a toilet maker”.  And yes, he actually worked in a toilet factory. After graduating with a major in Law Enforcement Administration from Western Illinois University, Ron moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he worked between Security Business and High Rise Window Cleaning.

In 1978 Ron and his wife Susan moved to Rancho Bernardo, California, after hearing from his in-laws how great the weather was year round.  That was just too much temptation for Ron and Sue to stay in Atlanta.  Ron started in the Real Estate Business the day he arrived in California by doing maintenance for the Property Management Department of Rancho Bernardo Realty while studying for his Real Estate License. At that time Rancho Bernardo Realty was the leader of the only 3 real estate offices in Rancho Bernardo.  He quickly moved into real estate sales as the youngest realtor in Rancho Bernardo.

After a few years in residential real estate Ron made the decision to move to commercial real estate and joined Oak Industries as a Real Estate Manager where he ran the employee relocation program, negotiated commercial leases and managed construction and development projects. Over the next 25 years Ron managed real estate operations, security, and maintenance for several large corporations. He served as Vice President of Real Estate for American Residential Mortgage Corp, Chase Manhattan Mortgage and Long Beach Mortgage, where he managed all real estate operations including lease negotiation, branch planning and construction, due diligence for corporate acquisitions, security, and maintenance.  His biggest challenge in real estate was working for the San Diego State University Foundation where he opened Fraternity Row, housing 6 fraternities and managing 3 other fraternity houses in Foundation owned buildings. The Fraternity Row Concept was a first for universities and served as a model for other university campuses.

Although the experience Ron received was tremendous, after 25 years of grinding in large corporate operations Ron decided in 2005 to go back to his roots in residential real estate. He just wanted to work with real people again instead of big shot lawyers, property managers and executives.  Through his contract management and negotiations with lawyers and building owners nationwide, Ron experience of paying attention to details, contractual issues and legal matters came second nature.  His negotiation skills were honed with precision. Ron worked for Shea Realty and REMAX Realty since 2005 until he joined Windermere Homes & Estates in 2016 as Assistant manager.  Ron is always there for agents who need help, have a problem or just want to bounce an idea off of someone. With his extensive experience in both residential and commercial real estate he is well versed in all aspects of real estate. He continues to work with his clients and their referrals at the same top level he always has.  His philosophy has always been being the biggest is not important, being the best is.

Ron and Susan have two sons, Chris and Robbie, who grew up in Rancho Bernardo. Ron’s passion is volunteering and working with kids.  Over the years Ron has served on the Board of Directors of Rancho Bernardo Little League, RB Community Planning Board, RB Recreation Council, RBHS Foundation, RBHS Grad Night and the RBHS Royal Regiment. He spent over 20 years with RB Little League as a Manager, Coach, and Umpire and 8 year as Equipment Manager for RBHS Royal Regiment.  Ron currently volunteers as a Team Manager with the Miracle League of San Diego which is a baseball league working with special needs kids.

Ron was inducted into the Rancho Bernardo Hall of Fame in 1999 for exceptional Volunteer Leadership, and named the Realtor of the Year in 2015 by the Poway Real Estate Professionals.

GETTING TO KNOW RON WILSON

MY NICKNAMES:

“Good Old Mr. Wilson”

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT REAL ESTATE:

Working directly with people finding them that perfect home while developing long term relationships so I can earn their referrals.

IF YOU COULD WITNESS ANY EVENT PAST, PRESENT, OR FUTURE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

A Time when Politicians decide to vote for what IS right instead of voting Party Lines.

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP?

I love my job working with both agents and clients. That’s about as good as it gets.  However, if you ask my wife she would tell you, don’t worry about it because I will never grow up.
