Dottie Christensen, realtor with Windermere Homes & EstatesBetter known as Dottie, this San Diego native grew up in East County and moved all over town before settling down in Valley Center. In her earlier years, Dottie enjoyed riding bareback on her horse, Mike. With a fondness for animals, Dottie aspired to work in veterinary medicine, which lead her to a short period working with animals.

Dottie eventually considered changing careers and moved into the Real Estate world in 1979 when she attained her license. As Dottie progressed in her newfound career, she “created” a Monopoly Game for Realtors based on her unique experiences while practicing this awesome “job”.  For instance, she once had a house burn to the ground while in escrow! Do not pass go, do not collect commission!

While Dottie has had some unique experiences, she wouldn’t change a thing about her beloved career as a Realtor. Her experience, honesty and ethics allow her to continuously create valued connections with each client she meets.

“Dottie is one of those agents who truly has sold all over the county. She prides herself on finding the perfect spot for her clients, whether it’s a horse property or a condo on the beach.  She listens. It’s one of the many reasons her clients keep coming back, and we’re happy that she has chosen to work with us in our Escondido office,” says Rich Johnson, co-owner of Windermere Homes & Estates.

Susan Murphy, realtor with Windermere Homes & EstatesRaised in Huntingdon Valley Pennsylvania, Susan Murphy is the youngest of seven kids. With plenty of siblings around to join in on the fun, the group was rarely bored. If not in school or other activities, the group of four brothers and two sisters would mostly play outside enjoying and exploring all four seasons.

Growing up in a family of self-employed business owners, Susan aspired to work in a similar fashion. As she ventured down her own path to self-discovery, Susan found herself working as the very first female DJ on the East Coast mixing vinyl. Thereafter starting her own successful mobile DJ business.

After getting married on the East Coast, Susan’s husband was transferred to Southern California in 1989 for work. California became “home” to Susan and she settled down in Newbury Park and raised her family. Susan has two children; Samantha and Dustin.

Through the years, as Susan’s children grew up, she decided to follow a path of her own. Susan found her new passion and chose to pursue a career in Real Estate. The real estate crash of 2007, where many families lost their homes, drew Susan to real estate. While many struggled to stay in their properties during that time, Susan was determined to fight the banks – and won! This experience inspired her to use the knowledge she had acquired during that process to study to get her Real Estate license. “I wanted to pursue a career in which I could help families and assist them in making important life and financial choices while also satisfying my entrepreneurial spirit. I got my license in 2015.”

Susan moved from Thousand Oaks to Oceanside in 2016. Besides the beautiful climate, she chose to move to be closer to her daughter who lives in San Clemente. The location also reminds her of some beaches on the East Coast that she used to go to when she was a kid. Once settled in, Susan began her Real Estate Career at Century 21 Mission in Oceanside.

From her honesty to her hard work, Susan gained the reputation as a trustworthy agent. As she dove further into her career, she decided to join Windermere Homes & Estates, primarily because of the training and agent tools. As an agent and business owner, Susan understood the importance of having proper leadership, organization and mentorship. “I believe that the tools provided at Windermere will help me achieve my professional and financial goals.”

Working out of the Carlsbad Village office, Susan represents both buyers and sellers of residential real estate. Utilizing all of the latest technology Windermere has to offer, Susan looks forward to a very long and prosperous career with the rapidly growing firm.

“Susan learned so much in the crash of 2007, and she feels the need to share that knowledge. Going toe to toe with the banks is no small feat, and it just reinforces her will to get to the heart of a problem.  A talent for sure, and we are so happy that she’s chosen to work with us in our Carlsbad Valley office,” says Brian Gooding, co-owner of Windermere Homes & Estates.

Cher Cunningham, realtor with Windermere Homes & EstatesCher is a native Californian, growing up in the agricultural region of the San Joaquin Valley in Central California on an almond ranch in the country.  In the summer the kids spent the mornings working the ranch and numerous other agricultural jobs and then enjoyed the hot desert afternoons swimming in the river.

Parochial education until graduation and then college years were spent in Grand Rapids, MI at Calvin College.  Her first career was bartending at a dinner house, The Hungry Hunter in San Jose, living in the nearby mountain community of Los Gatos.  But every free moment was spent roaming and walking the beaches of Santa Cruz searching for shells during peaceful reflections and swimming the ocean.

A promotion moved Cher to Southern California to train in the management program.  Her next move was to Arizona to manage a newly built nightclub in Phoenix, AZ.  Real Estate was Cher’s next career choice as it fit her various interests in land, homes and providing service to people. She was licensed in 1980, starting in Residential Real Estate, then moving to a Real Estate Investment Firm in 1982 selling investment properties in the Pacific Northwest to California investors.

Craving a vacation in 1985, Cher concluded working in timeshare sales would provide the perfect mix of both travel and work. She moved to Mazatlán, Mexico, for her first timeshare position.  After returning to the States, she worked the next couple of years moving into management and then opened and developed the Resale department for a large Timeshare Developer in Southern California.  As Director of the Resale Division, the position proved an excellent fit and Cher enjoyed 27 years there while managing the resales of numerous timeshare properties.

A longtime member of St. Michael’s by the Sea in Carlsbad, and a proud supporter and volunteer for KPBS, Cher is also a member and supporter of the Encinitas YMCA where he swims laps and takes yoga classes. Ballroom and Latin dancing are just two of her passions, competing with her teacher and partner Daniel Vasco in the ProAm division.

After a hiatus spent traveling and marking items off her bucket list, such as working as a volunteer at the Riddles Elephant Preserve in Arkansas, Cher knew she wanted to return to residential Real Estate where she first started her Real Estate career.  Having lived in the village of Carlsbad for 17 years drew Cher to the  Carlsbad village Windermere office. I love the village and particularly bike riding along the ocean.

Clients say Cher is determined, focused, and hard working with a strong, impeccable service record coupled with integrity.

“We’d have to agree with her clients.  You don’t get much more tenacious and focused than Cher.  She has had such a wide range of experience, both internationally and here in the U.S., benefiting all kinds of client needs.  We believe in these gifts and feel fortunate to have her here in our Carlsbad Village office,” says Brian Gooding, co-owner of Windermere Homes & Estates.

Deanna Walls, realtor with Windermere Homes & EstatesAs a native SoCal resident, Deanna grew up in Escondido and enjoyed all the beautiful weather had to offer. From summers in the swimming pool to neighborhood basketball, soccer and softball, to say Deanna had a competitive edge would be an understatement!

Having early aspirations to excel in everything she did, Deanna used her endless energy to run and play sports as often as she could. Her unique passion has allowed her to trump most competitors she faced – even the guys.

Although Deanna attained her Masters in Elementary Education, she decided that her love for raising a family would exceed all, making her a stay at home mom having children only 19 months apart. She later went back to be a substitute teacher with every intention of going back to teaching full time.

After several months Deanna realized that her mother, Sandi Hadley, who had been a top producing North San Diego Real Estate agent for over 26 years, was going to retire. At that point, Deanna decided it was time to learn the business from a master mentor while she still had the chance.

Deanna fell in love with Real Estate, loving every minute of this new career. “It was the perfect change for me and I am so thankful that I got to be mentored by my mother before her unfortunate death this last November.  I started in Oct. of 2015 and I feel so lucky to have grasped this wonderful opportunity to help homeowners with something so important and special in their lives.  Thank you mom for everything you taught me.”

Deanna’s team, The Hadley Home Team went #1 Nationwide in 2016 for sales.  In 2017, Deanna was Top 10 Nationwide for March, April and Oct. Deanna decided that with this momentum, she would begin her own Hadley Home Team and hope to follow in the footsteps of her inspiring mother, upholding her amazing reputation.

Now working out of Windermere’s Carlsbad Village office, Deanna gets to do what she loves right in her hometown.

“Deanna’s story is inspirational.  To have achieved so much in so little time shows what a quick mind she has. The opportunity to learn from the best was a gift, and Deanna does her mother proud. That she’s chosen our Carlsbad Village office?  That’s our own good fortune,” says Brian Gooding, co-owner of Windermere Homes & Estates.

Cynthia Tremblay, realtor with Windermere Homes & EstatesCynthia began her career as an elementary school teacher, which she thoroughly enjoyed prior to becoming a Realtor. Her years as an educator, mentor and team leader have helped equip her with the ability to assume leadership roles, understand others, address their needs, and conduct herself with integrity, honesty, and compassion. Cynthia’s willingness to learn from others is a key factor in her continuous growth to this day.

Prior to moving to Carlsbad, Cynthia and her family lived near Yosemite National Park where they enjoyed skiing, camping, hiking, fishing and anything having to do with the outdoors. It was there they had built their own home from the ground up, and where Cynthia began helping family and friends, consulting them with construction and remodeling needs. While they had enjoyed Yosemite, they eventually relocated to Southern California to be closer to family and to trade the mountains for the beach!

With a passion for design, construction and investment properties, Cynthia’s love for transforming homes and helping others fulfill their dreams came to be. As Cynthia bought and sold her own homes as an owner / builder, she was able to utilize her passion for design, while eventually helping others to find their own slice of paradise.

I chose to work for Windermere Homes & Estates and joined ‘The Hadley Home Team’ because of their commitment to putting client relationships first, and the support and tools available to us agents are top notch. We at Windermere Homes & Estates (WHE) know the value of gaining support through the beginning of your real estate journey. There have been far too many instances where agents receive their real estate license and are lost in a sea of options, from which office to join, to who has the best splits.

While commission may be one of the first things on your mind, what we find is that support is the central key to each and every successful agent. Without constant support as a new agent, it is easy to get discouraged or off track in your path to success. With Windermere Homes & Estates, we can assure you that support will never be something you lack.

From the moment any new agent joins our company, Windermere sends out a welcome introduction, which is received by every member of our staff and team. Every agent is then able to personally welcome the new agent, while staff gears up to set up accounts, training, calendar events and more. The process may seem cumbersome at first, but getting set up is one of the most important things a new agent can do.

When it comes to WHE, we take pride in our on-boarding process. From the personal one-on-one assistance the new agent receives from their office coordinator, to the multitude of new agent training at the office, we are sure to make you feel at home when joining our family.

One thing that sets WHE apart from all other brokerages in the area is the central concept of family. From the start of WHE, we set out to create a team of people that felt more like family than colleagues. Whether you have questions about compliance, social media, blogging, open houses or best marketing practices, we always ensure that our agents, whether new or experienced, get the right kind of support they need.

With a growing team of office coordinators, marketing experts, risk assessment managers, and several office managers, we are sure that no matter the issue, you will have continuous support throughout whatever process you are going through.

Give us a call today to find out about how WHE can support you!  We look forward to hearing from you!

Donna Fisher, realtor with Windermere Homes & EstatesDonna grew up in Chattanooga, TN, in a rural environment with her three older sisters, playing outside, riding bikes and waiting for Dad to get home so that they could go to the river to swim.

Donna always aspired to greatness. She wanted to hold the world in her hands. Once she sets her mind to something she usually achieves it. But kindness always goes a long way, her father always told her that “all people are the same”. What she’s found in life is that this statement is true. People want to be happy and want to provide for their family and give their children something better than what they had.

Donna moved when she was about 21 years old, to Tampa, Florida, to be close to the beach, where she met and married her husband.

Moving to California in 1994 Donna and her husband eventually settled in Escondido. Mountains, hills, parks, Lake Hodges, there was room to grow. They live on a private property with views and over .5 acres. It’s very quiet and lovely.

Donna’s record in Real Estate is inspiring. She has had successful transactions on both sides for 99% of all clients. Her motto and business tag is “Excellence is expected!” Donna serves coastal, inland and North County San Diego, including RB, Escondido, San Marcos and Vista.

“Donna is outgoing, honest to a fault, and works hard. Her clients understand that she does her very best to make sure that their dreams come true, and we can see that she made the right decision when she became a realtor.  We’re happy that she’s chosen to work in our Carlsbad Village office,” says Brian Gooding, co-owner of Windermere Homes & Estates.

Kirk Effinger, realtor with Windermere Homes & EstatesAs a San Diego native, Kirk spent his childhood in Southern California, growing up in Orange County and Long Beach where he attended high school and eventually met his wife.

As a youth, Kirk divided his time between school, work, and sailing. His first job was as a “paper boy” where he delivered newspapers and sold subscriptions. In doing so, Kirk ultimately learned the value of customer service.

In his down time Kirk enjoyed sailing or “racing” for sport. His competitive streak, which he inherited from his father, led him to race competitively up and down the coast of California, and occasionally, internationally. Dennis Connor of America’s Cup fame was one of his frequent foes.

Following a four-year enlistment in the United States Air Force, Kirk began a career in the housing industry that started with selling lumber wholesale to large contractors. Within a few years, he had segued into the supervision of construction and over a period of years, as a superintendent and a project manager, oversaw the construction of hundreds of homes from Los Angeles to San Diego.

Kirk eventually ended up working as a loan officer for what was, at the time, the largest mortgage banking company in the nation, and went on for the next 25-plus years to have a career as a loan officer, branch manager, and vice-president for several different companies.

In the mid-1990s, Kirk also started writing newspaper columns for the North County Times, and continued to do so for several decades with a brief hiatus while he ran (unsuccessfully) for mayor of San Marcos, and another from 2006-2010 when he and his daughter founded and ran a small magazine publishing business. Kirk’s columns also appeared in the San Diego Union-Tribune when they acquired the NCT, until they shut down the North County Edition, and still occasionally appear in local publications.

As a licensed Realtor since the early 1980s, choosing a career in real estate wasn’t really much of a leap of faith. Kirk quite literally grew up in the business as his father was a general contractor, real estate broker and developer. Even at age 87, Kirk’s father still dabbles in the business.

Kirk and his wife currently live in Escondido, where they purchased a condominium in the downtown area after living the previous thirty years in San Marcos. After both of their children moved from home, they decided it was time to downsize and try settling down in a more “walkable” environment.

“Kirk likes to stay active.  He’s out in the community, meeting people and getting involved, rarely standing still.  So Kirk knows what’s going on, not only in his industry but also in his community.  Pair that with his experience in construction and as a loan officer and it makes him extremely valuable to his clients.  We couldn’t be happier that he’s chosen to work in our Escondido office,” says Rich Johnson, co-owner of Windermere Homes & Estates.

If you’re like most people, follow through is a very important thing. Whether it is your doctor’s office reminding you of an upcoming appointment, or that call you get after a long day at work letting you know that your efforts are appreciated. Follow through can make all the difference when it comes to life changes, choices, and pivotal moments. The same can also be said for Real Estate.

From the start of your career, you will undoubtedly be flooded with broker interest, receiving letters, postcards, phone calls and emails. Each office applying due diligence will find out that you are in the market for a broker and initiate contact in hopes of acquiring a new agent. But how is their follow through? Did you receive one phone call? One letter? One message? Maybe even a second or third reminding you of how that brokerage is going to offer you the very best in service? While some or all of that may be true, choosing a brokerage isn’t just about the initial contact, it should be about follow through.

What sets Windermere apart from all other brokerages is that our follow through isn’t just to get you through the doors. Our follow through is to deliver on our promises, help you to thrive as a new agent, and to keep you happy here in your new home. To us, it doesn’t end with having you sign up. Follow through for us is a long relationship. A journey down the road of your Real Estate career. A continuous effort to give you everything you’ll need to succeed – and then some.

At Windermere Homes & Estates, we pride ourselves on our resiliency, and follow through is just one of many ways we keep our relationships going. For us, it’s not about the quantity, it’s about the quality.

Allow us to show you a brokerage that never stops putting in the time, or the effort. Allow us to provide you with the best resources, the best training and the best family and work atmosphere you can possibly find.

Allow us to show you what follow through is all about.

We look forward to meeting you.
