About Windermere Real Estate

Their newest achievement, 2016 Brokerage Achievement of Excellence, was awarded to them by the San Diego Association of Realtors® (SDAR). Windermere Homes & Estates was honored to be the first recipient of the new annual SDAR Award given for standard of ethics, commitment to compliance and high regards for running their business.

Windermere Real Estate is ranked the largest regional real estate company in the Western U.S. with over 300 offices and 6,000 agents serving communities in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Mexico. Last year, Windermere closed over 86,000 sides for more than $31.7 billion in dollar volume. The Windermere family has a proud heritage of serving our neighbors via the Windermere Foundation which funds services for low-income and homeless families. As many of you may have known, Windermere Homes & Estates (WHE) has had the pleasure of having its own in-house escrow service, known as SD County Escrow. What’s new and exciting about SD County Escrow are all the changes that have been progressing throughout the last year.

One key factor that WHE is most excited to announce is that SD County Escrow is now functioning completely independent! What’s so great about this is that we are no longer sharing escrow officers and have exclusive “SD County” officers working solely with Windermere agents. Not only do Windermere agents have exclusive rights to their own in-house escrow service, but SD County is now scouting out new talent to join its team of officers.

While some of SD County’s familiar face Vicki Foreman is still on the team, SD County is excited to announce some newer members like Elia Kovar, Dean McGill and Glennis Pleysier. With the help of SD County’s newest team members, the expanding escrow company will have an even stronger foothold in servicing Windermere’s rapidly growing team of agents.

Get To Know Our New Members

Elia Kovar with SD County Escrow

Elia Kovar, previous manager of Westar Escrow, believes her past experiences have helped her to reach the level of achievement she has accomplished today. Elia’s portfolio of experience has allowed her to work in the customer service department of a major title company, 5 years as an admin and agent recruiter for Century 21, plus an active member of the California Escrow Association (CEA). Elias commitment to excellent service has given her a version of life that she commonly refers to as the “American Dream”. Elia comes to SD County Escrow with years of experience and a mission to give her customers the best possible service 24/7. Elia will act as SDCE’s Operations Manager and escrow officer, operating out of Windermere’s Aviara/Carlsbad office.

Dean McGill with SD County Escrow

Dean McGill joins SD County Escrow bringing experience in the residential title and escrow business. As an entrepreneur who has owned and operated a multi-branch independent escrow company, Dean expanded to 3 offices and 23 employees over a 5 year period. Deans experience in title operations has given him the chance to manage 4 escrow offices and over 40 employees, setting the escrow standards for Chicago Title. As an active member of organizations such as San Diego Escrow Association and California Escrow Association, Dean keeps his finger on the pulse of current rules, regulations and changes happening in his field of expertise.

Glennis Pleysier may be newer to SD County Escrow, but she’s certainly no rookie when it comes to the real estate industry! As SD County’s Escrow Account Executive, Glennis brings decades of experience and expertise to the team, using history as realtor, admin and transaction coordinator to Windermere Homes & Estates. Glennis’ collective experience in the field is comparable to that of two agents combined, allowing her to work as a triple threat both in and out of the office. In preparation for even more changes to come as of February 1, 2018, Glennis welcomes SD County’s newest team members and also seeks to provide exceptional service to all Windermere agents. With her participation, Glennis is able to provide key communication between both escrow officers and WHE agents.

Changes To Begin February 1, 2018

Starting February 1, 2018 Dean and Elia will be overseeing all operations involving SD County Escrow. Brian Gooding, co-owner of Windermere Homes & Estates stated, “We are ecstatic to have such amazing contributors to our escrow branch! As we are now able to offer this exclusive service to our agents, they can be assured that each transaction will be the sole focus of that escrow officer, working exclusively for SD County and Windermere Homes & Estates. All services offered in-house to our agents will help to build company morale and support the brand as a whole. I am anxious to see how this will progress us as a company through the years to come!

With these exciting changes on the horizon, WHE gears up for new escrow officers, talented team members, and an overall amazing collaboration between the office and its exclusive in-house service. With the convenience of having multiple officers and branches on both the inland corridor and the coastal region, Windermere is thrilled to bring a higher level of service to its agents and offices.

As a real estate licensee, you may find that there are many things to consider when choosing a brokerage to hang your license. From the start of your journey into a Real Estate career, you’ve had to make several choices, from which classes to take, to studying online or in a school, even down to deciding if, and when, to start. Among all of the choices you have yet to make, there is one particular choice that can quickly determine just how successful you could be from the start of this exciting new journey. The most important, fundamental key to your career in Real Estate, easily boils down to one choice – your brokerage.

Getting your Real Estate License? With countless offices opening up on what seems to be a daily basis, it is no surprise to see how popular the industry has become through the years. People oftentimes choose a career in Real Estate for one of several reasons; from needing some extra income, to choosing your own flexible schedule, to knowing many people in the market and so on. While there may be many determining factors involved in why you originally chose to get started, picking the right brokerage for you is much like many big choices in life. Your personal reasons are what makes all the difference.

What’s different about Windermere Homes & Estates is not so much as what we do, it’s more about what we don’t do. We are not a brokerage who simply targets every new agent through a spam campaign telling you why we’re the best. We do not go after agents for the simple fact of volume. We do not promise the world without the intention of delivering. And we certainly don’t leave our agents high and dry after they’ve joined our company.

Windermere has always focused on 3 core principles; hiring the best people, giving them the best tools, create thriving communities. It’s as simple as that.

Success - Go Get It!Windermere has always been diligent in recruiting the best agents, and this fundamental truth does not lie on the premise of top producers only, but looks for natural leaders with an ambition and drive to excel. These are some of the most important things we look for when finding our agents, and oftentimes, our agents even find us.

With a reputation for success, along with a flare for fun, Windermere Homes & Estates has never been easily comparable to other local brokerages, and we stand proud of our uniqueness and the business we have built over the years.

Don’t just take our word for it. Come meet us yourself and find out why so many agents have chosen, and continue to choose Windermere Homes & Estates

We look forward to meeting you.

Deborah DankoDeborah Danko of Windermere Homes & Estates was presented the 2017
REALTOR® Award of Excellence for the Fallbrook/Bonsall district. The Award
goes to a local REALTOR who demonstrates integrity, adherence to REALTOR
Code of Ethics, exceptional service, and community involvement.

Over the last 15 years, Danko has earned a reputation of trust, respect and
reliability. Prior to entering real estate, Danko invested 20 years in the computer
software business as Director of Marketing.

Danko’s high-tech background was a perfect fit as real estate had just made the
leap from paper-based to digital tools. Online marketing and client systems were a
seamless integration for Danko into her business.

Her corporate life, consulting, project management, and advanced degrees have
provided her the skills, discipline, and work ethic to navigate her clients through
the real estate “obstacle course.”

“I am a full-time REALTOR,” she said. The executive work ethic is engrained in
Danko still today, “every day I get up, get dressed, and go to work.”

Danko loves working the north County. “I grew up in Michigan where camping
and fishing were my favorite things to do. I love the outdoors, and am just a
country girl…in a suit.” Danko, her husband and two Boxer dogs reside in
Fallbrook.

In today’s market, Danko radiates a positive attitude. “Every single day, someone
is buying or selling a home.” Inventory is low, prices are up, and interest rates are
still low. “This is the perfect storm for sellers – the best time to sell in a long
time.”

Danko’s professionalism makes her a valued member of the Windermere Fallbrook
team. “We are thrilled to have Deb in the office”, says Diane Hogencamp, Branch
Manager. “She has a fantastic attitude, is always ready to lend a hand, and a
pleasure to work with.”

Helping clients transition from one home to the next is a joy for her. “I have had
the pleasure of helping so many great people here. I enjoy bumping into them
around town” says Danko.

Liz KennyLiz Kenny grew up in the Chicago area on 5 acres with her parents and 3 brothers.  She enjoyed winter sledding  and a farm nearby, but the holidays were spent in the city with family.  She chose college in San Diego, and after graduation returned to Chicago, where she met her husband. It took 15 years but coming back to San Diego was on her list, and she’s back!

Liz and her husband chose to settle in La Costa.  The Encinitas school district and beautiful homes in Carlsbad were exactly what she wanted for her family, and her previous experience as a realtor nudged her back into real estate.

Liz and her husband have also renovated their last 7 houses.  They brought them up to their personal standards, then moved on looking for a new challenge.  Her remodeling expertise has become a great tool when showing property to clients.  She can walk into any house and see the possibilities and share that with her clients.

Liz will be working out of the beautiful Carlsbad office.  Clients will tell you that Liz is conscientious, dependable, kind and ethical.  Not an aggressive sales person, more of a knowledgeable friend  who is always available for the details that come with a real estate transaction.

“Liz’s experience with renovation translates so easily to our industry.  What a gift for her clients, to be able to discuss possibilities with somebody who has been through it so many times!  To have that resource during the purchase process makes those decisions that much easier, and we’re extremely happy that Liz has chosen to work in our Carlsbad location,” says Brian Gooding, co-owner of Windermere Homes & Estates.

Karen MadeiraBorn and raised in San Antonio, Karen received her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas. Soon after graduating, she began her life long career in customer service, first as a flight attendant with American Airlines. Her flexible schedule allowed her to also help out in a friend’s real estate office, where her interest in this dynamic business was born! After having children and while working part-time, Karen achieved director status with a direct sales company, and later became a certified personal trainer and fitness instructor. In 2004 her family relocated to sunny San Diego and have called Carlsbad home ever since. Her sons are now 17 and 20, and they also have a wonderful German shepherd rescue named Trace.

There is no doubt that Karen is an outgoing “people person”, so it is not surprising that she has accumulated more than two decades of award-winning customer service in the airline, sales and fitness industries. Helping others achieve their goals has always been Karen’s goal and passion, and as a REALTOR®, that means giving 100% to assist a buyer or seller as seamlessly as possible through all steps of a transaction, resulting in a successful escrow closing.

With her children now young adults, Karen can fully devote her energy and efforts to her business and clients. She intends to do that through delivering the highest level of service possible while following the golden rule. With Karen’s knowledge, integrity, respect and care, her intent is to make every client a friend and to create lasting positive and professional relationships.

“Karen’s warmth is apparent to anyone that meets her and her customer service skills are superior.  Her commitment to clients shows a dedication to developing relationships and a high standard of service, and we’re delighted that she has chosen to join our Carlsbad team,” says Brian Gooding, co-owner of Windermere Homes & Estates.

Jeff Goodrick, RealtorJeff, shortly after graduating high school, started his career working for a San Diego based construction company, framing hundreds of custom and tract homes throughout Southern California.  After a few years of working on various job sites he started working for one of the nation’s largest home builders, managing various multi-state operations.

He’s no stranger to the investment side of real estate since he has been flipping, wholesaling and renting homes starting in his mid-20s, and continues to look for great opportunities every day.

Jeff decided to get his real estate license when he realized many of the Realtors  helping him find investment homes not only didn’t understand how to properly calculate cap rates or cash flows but also were weak on negotiating skills and seemed to be more focused on their own financial goals than helping him attain his goals.

For the past 13 years he has been working closely with home buyers, sellers and investors in reaching their real estate goals.

“Jeff is a numbers guy. He knows the questions to ask and how to get answers.  His experiences flipping homes gives his beginning investors invaluable knowledge, and his approach to education gives his clients peace of mind.  Not a small thing when you’re investing for the first time.  We’re lucky he chose to join our Carlsbad team,” says Brian Gooding, co-owner of Windermere Homes & Estates.

Dale Politte Five Star AgentAs a Five Star Professional for ten consecutive years (2008-2018) Dale understands that selling or buying a home is a huge step in most people’s lives.  He is dedicated to selling his client’s homes quickly and at top dollar and to finding his buying clients the right home that fits their wants, needs and budget. He consistently ranks at the top of his profession at exceeding his clients expectations.  Fewer than 5% of all Realtors in San Diego earn the title of Five Star Professional in any given year. Fewer than 1% of all Realtors in San Diego have earned the title of Five Star Professional for ten consecutive years.

The Five Star Professional research team contacted thousands of recent homebuyers, consumers and industry leaders to identify San Diego-area real estate agents who stand out in their industry and community. The Five Star award is annually presented to real estate agents, mortgage professionals, home and auto insurance professionals in more than 45 markets in the U.S. and Canada. The Five Star award recognizes service professionals who provide quality services to their clients. The Five Star Real Estate Agent program is the largest and most widely published award program for real estate agents in North America, covering more than 40 major markets. Five Star award winners do not pay a fee to be included in the research or on the final list of award winners. To receive the Five Star Real Estate Agent award, a real estate agent must satisfy five objective eligibility and evaluation criteria that are associated with real estate agents who provide quality services to their clients. Recent homebuyers are asked to evaluate real estate agents with whom they have worked and evaluate them based upon ten criteria. Recent homebuyers may evaluate up to two real estate agents in order to measure the experience associated with the purchase and sale side of a move. Self-nominations are not accepted.

“We are honored to have such a stellar real estate agent on our Windermere team.  This is such a great honor, and Dale truly deserves it through his hard work and dedication to each and every one of his clients,” says Rich Johnson, co-owner of Windermere Homes & Estates.

Valuing honesty and integrity, the work she puts forward is always for her clients to reach their real estate dreams. “We are extremely lucky to have an agent who sees the industry as a people business, not as a sales business. On Thursday, June 29th, Windermere Homes & Estates closed its doors to take agents and staff to spend a day volunteering at Casa de Amparo. This special foundation, Spanish for ‘Home of Protection’, was established in 1978 and recognized as a leader in treating and preventing child abuse and neglect in San Diego and beyond. The mission of Casa de Amparo is “To support those affected by and at risk of child abuse and neglect, offering a range of programs and services that promote healing, growth, and healthy relationships.”

Each year, Windermere dedicates one day to help make a positive difference in local communities. This annual tradition, dating back to 1984, has allowed Windermere to offer over 800,000 hours of community service, raising over $32 million for programs and organizations that provide clothing, shelter, emergency assistance, and other services to those most in need.

Collective contributions from Windermere agents, employees and public supporters have allowed our team to donate $18,000 towards Casa de Amparo, on top of 300 items donated and collected within each of Windermere’s local offices.

Windermere Homes & Estates is proud to both service, and serve the communities it represents. Each year, Windermere Homes & Estates happily offers their support to local neighbors and friends who continually support our growing team.

June is a California native, attending California State University in Long Beach.  As her children left the “nest” she went on to work as a Director of Sales and Marketing for ClubCorp, a premier leader in the Private Club industry.

Involved in conversion processes of taking land acquisitions over to a private country club, June managed and trained Membership Directors in Southern California, and established committees and councils for various clubs. To cap off thirty two successful years of experience in sales June received the highest award in the company, the “Hall of Fame”.

Having lived in Carlsbad for over 30 years, June knows the area well.   She came from a business of selling “fun” to people in the Club business, and for that reason wanted to continue that passion in the real estate field.

Finding the home of her dreams in the perfect location was huge for June when she underwent that process.   Her goal is to help others achieve the same satisfaction for themselves and their families.  When she researched brokerages she found Windermere to be the most comfortable fit.  June says, “Windermere feels like family and are most helpful in expanding my success.”

June has a great talent for working with people, balancing concern for both the task and the people aspects of a situation.  She enjoys situations where she can work cooperatively with others to achieve positive results.

June says her greatest achievement was the gift of being the mother of three amazing children, and is now the proud grandmother of their four beautiful girls. She also loves exercise and has completed several New York City Marathons, and enjoys a round of golf when her schedule permits.

“Nobody knows land acquisitions like June does.  She brings a rarely seen set of skills to our team and shares her knowledge easily.  It’s a pleasure to have her join us in our Aviara location,” says Brian Gooding, co-owner of Windermere Homes & Estates.
